American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology About this site: The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma and Immunology is the largest organization of physicans and researchers specializing in allergic diseases. Its Web site offers basic information about allergies and treatments, a search engine to find your local allergist, and interesting consumer-oriented features from the group's quarterly newsletter, the Allergy and Asthma ADVOCATE. They include subjects such as how to cope with allergies when you go to college, how to use inhalers, peanut allergies, and allergy-proofing your home, many of written by doctors. (http://www.aaaai.org) Pluses: Subjects are easy to find on the pulldown menu of the Patient/Public Resource Center portion of the site and also translated for Spanish speakers. Minuses: There's a lot of technical information just for physicians only. Best feature: Pictures of common allergens such as animal dander and pollen are fun to look at. |
